A Palm Springs Neighborhood For Art Lovers

palm springs movie colony and artist colony homes for salepalm springs movie colony and artist colony homes for sale
Since its beginning, Palm Springs has been known as an artist colony, attracting artists and art lovers from around the world.

While much of the art can be viewed in museums and galleries, a surprising number of artistic works and installments can be viewed on street corners, in front yards and in our parks.

Pictured above are the larger than life, found art creations of the artist who lives in this Movie Colony neighborhood home. The robot-themed art is colorful, playful and on full display for neighbors and passers by.

You’ll find this home on the corner of E. Granvia Valmonte and N Arquilla Road, just a block from Frank Sinatra’s former Twin Palms Estate and a couple of blocks from Ruth Hardy Park (where you can also view other public art work).

Happy Midcentury Modern Valentine’s Day From Palm Springs

palm springs indian canyon neighborhood homes for sale
These Palm Springs residents liked their home so much they took Beyonce’s advice and “put a ring on it”! Two rings, in fact.

I spotted this blinged out pad in the Indian Canyon neighborhood of south Palm Springs today.

What Does Your Mailbox Say About You?

Palm Springs, California is known, the world over, primarily for it’s golf courses, swimming pools, movie stars, film festivals and midcentury modern architecture.

The city is also a mecca for artists. From it’s founding, artists have flocked to Palm Springs to paint, draw, photograph and create in whichever medium has inspired them.

If you drive around town, you’ll notice public and private art in nearly every neighborhood. One of my favorite forms of street art comes in the form of personalized mailboxes. Here are pictures of a couple I’ve spotted. Feel free to send me creative mailboxes I may have missed and I’ll post them here.

Does living in an artist colony appeal to you?

Marilyn Monroe Called Palm Springs Home

Marilyn Monroe is just one of the many famous Hollywood celebrities who have called Palm Springs home, at one time or another.

But, just like the hottest homes on the market, her very popular “Forever Marilyn,” larger-than-life sculpture will soon be gone. So, you better hurry if you want to see Marilyn again, or if you want to purchase one of the few remaining hot home buys in the city of Palm Springs. In case you haven’t heard, Palm Springs home sales are once again as hot as the desert in August.

Happy Valentine’s Day From Palm Springs

Wishing everyone in Palm Springs a Happy Valentine’s Day.

I photographed this mural at Raymond Cree Elementary School in Palm Springs. Another great example of public art in Palm Springs. Raymond Cree is located in the Ruth Hardy Park neighborhood of Palm Springs.

The Art Of Palm Springs Desert Living

In some cities, it seems that there’s a fast-food restaurant, or Starbucks, on every corner. In Palm Springs, it seems that there’s an outdoor sculpture, or Starbucks, on every corner.

What really sets us apart from other cities, though, isn’t the large number of public outdoor art installations. It’s the residential artwork on view throughout the desert. Drive down any residential street in Palm Springs and you’re more likely than not, to see outdoor sculptures proudly displayed in the front yards of private homes, both large and small. If you drive slow enough, you’ll also glimpse many colorful back yard art pieces poking over the tops of fences and hedges.

I’m not sure how so many artists and art collectors ended up here in the desert, but I’m glad they did.

Photo above was taken in the Movie Colony/Ruth Hardy Park neighborhood.

Please contact me today, at the number listed above, to make an appointment to see any home or condo currently listed for sale in the city of Palm Springs and to start your own yard art collection.
