For Valentine’s Day, hundreds of bicycle riders rode 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100 miles to benefits charities related to the Coachella Valley. I shot the video above at the start of the 10 mile ride.
The 17th Annual Tour de Palm Springs took place on Valentine’s Day and started in downtown Palm Springs on North Palm Canyon Drive at Alejo Road.
If you love to play golf or tennis or like to ride bikes, run, hike or walk, you’ll find numerous events in Palm Springs, held throughout the year, to enjoy your favorite sport or activity and raise money for charities at the same time.
To someone who’s never visited the desert, a home or condo with a fireplace may seem odd. Locals, however, know just how cold it can get in Palm Springs, in the winter. The mountains are covered with snow each year and temps can drop into the 20 degrees at night.
Plus, with Christmas just around the corner, where would you hang those stockings without a fireplace?
A few days ago I mentioned one of my new manufactured home listings has a fireplace and how rare that is, here in the desert. A little less rare are condos and townhomes with fireplaces. In fact, there are currently more than 150 condos for sale with fireplaces. Click the link below to view them and then contact me if you would like to see any of them in person.
One of my clients is currently in escrow on a condo at the Biarritz in downtown Palm Springs. My lucky buyer was able to purchase this penthouse condo, with a huge patio overlooking Palm Springs and the beautiful surrounding mountains, for under $100,000!
Deals like this are becoming scarce and there are currently only a couple of other condos like it on the market in this price range. If you wait until the new year to make your move, you may be too late.
Contact me today and I’ll be happy to help you find a condo under $100K, while they last.
Before Palm Springs became the Golf Capital of the world, it was famous for tennis and the famous celebrity tennis players who flocked to town to play.
The legendary Palm Springs Racquet Club went out of business years ago, but the Tennis Club neighborhood, with its luxury condos and single family homes, in downtown Palm Springs, is still one of the desert’s hot spots.
Palm Springs has always had something of a split personality. On the one hand, it’s always had a reputation for being cool, trendy, sophisticated and a luxe international resort destination.
On the other hand, it’s also been a retirement destination. Those two things don’t always go hand in hand, but in Palm Springs, they always have. Somewhere around fifty-percent of the Palm Springs population is over 50.
When purchasing a home, it can be important to have the best restaurants and entertainment venues nearby, but it might also come in handy to have an urgent care close by, as well. In Palm Springs, you can have both. For example, this Eisenhower Urgent Care Center, on Tahquitz and Sunrise is located next door to the ultra modern and trendy 48@Baristo condos.
In Palm Springs, fabulous never gets old or goes out of style.
For under $80,000 you can own a 1/12th fractional share in a modern-style, Palm Springs condo in the heart of town. Monthly homeowner association fees are approximately $350 a month and include maintenance, concierge service and many luxury amenities.
Currently on the market is a 3 bedroom, 3 Bath unit with approximately 2023 square feet.
The complex was originally built in 1963. Following a renovation, it now offers residents the opportunity to combine the convenience of staying in a luxury hotel with the privacy and benefits of owning a second home through fractional ownership. It also offers the cool midcentury style with today’s contemporary updates and elegant finishes.
In the words of the developer, “By purchasing a fraction rather than an entire residence, you are able to flexibly use your property as you like without the headaches or cost of owning a home.”
Contact me today to learn more about this unique and affordable opportunity. I would be happy to show you any of the condos currently for sale.
The city of Palm Springs, California, turned 75 this year.
To celebrate the milestone, it had a cool party, downtown. It also installed the Marilyn Monroe street art sculpture (at the corner of Tahquitz and Palm Canyon Drive) which has drawn tourists from all over the world. It also began the demolition of the dilapidated downtown Palm Springs Desert Fashion Plaza Mall, which has been a mostly empty eyesore, and thorn in the side of the city, for over a decade.
In the 1950s, my grandparents used to go clubbing at the world famous Chi Chi nightclub and in the early 1960s I became a film buff, watching some of my first movies on the big screen at the Village Theater. Both were demolished in the late 1960s to make room for the current Desert Fashion Plaza Mall. I watched the mall being built then, and a little over 40 years later I’m happy to see it being demolished to make room for a new and improved downtown plaza. Although, I would prefer the return of the Chi Chi club and the Village Theater, that’s not likely to happen.
In my opinion, Palm Springs has always had the best downtown, of any of our desert cities. El Paseo, in Palm Desert has some great street art, restaurants and is a wonderful place to walk and shop, as well. Old Town La Quinta, is also a popular spot for the same reasons. All three downtown areas have their own personalities and much to offer tourists and locals.
I mention these three downtown areas because when you buy a home you are also buying a community and a lifestyle. If you prefer to live near the best downtown area (in my opinion, of course), please contact me and I’ll be happy to show you homes or condos in a variety of price ranges.
