As Realtors, we are asked lots of questions, and are happy to answer them all, if we can. Below is an email I received today. The buyers asks a question that I’m often asked:
“Hi Steve, can you tell me which areas are the safest in the desert? May sound like a silly question, but we have no idea. We were looking at a unit in [a popular neighborhood] and were told it was a high crime area. I Googled it and it seems as if that is true. Would you say [another popular neighborhood] is in a safer area? Thanks”
Here is how I always answer this popular question: The best way to check neighborhood safety and crime statistics is to go online. Each city usually has a website that lists crimes by type and area. You can also call the cities and they can often give you this information over the phone. Anything I could say on the subject would just be hearsay and not based on fact. I can only speak to the neighborhood I live in, and even that would be mostly based on what I’ve heard.
Bottom line: It’s always best to go to the source for the latest and most accurate information. And the best source from crime information is the probably the police department.
If you want to know what homes are selling for or how to quickly sell your home at market value, I’m pretty certain that I’m the best source for that and can offer you the most accurate and up to the minute information.
