Celebrity Skeletons In The Closet In This Little Tuscany Home

In 1955, Ivy Baker Priest, the first female U.S. Treasurer, under President Eisenhower, built a home at 472 Santa Elena Road, in the Little Tuscany neighborhood of Palm Springs. Elvis Presley would later buy a home just a few blocks away.

It’s not as well known as 1313 Mockingbird Lane, home to “The Munsters,” but the Santa Elena Road home has a few skeletons in it’s closet, as well.

Ivy’s daughter, Pat Priest, is the actress who played Marilyn Munster, in the still popular 1960s television show “The Munsters.” She also played opposite Elvis in “Easy Come, Easy Go.” Pat once stated that she bought Elvis’ Cadillac (a 1967 El Dorado), and later traded it for a Pontiac! “If I had it today, I could retire!”, she later said.

In 2009, the historic home, which had been on the market for more than $1.5 million dollars, went into foreclosure and sold as a bank-owned home, for a steal.

Today, the 4,100-square-foot Palm Springs Priest Estate, Villa Vista, complete with pool, tennis court and fabulous mountain views, is owned by the founder of http://www.palmspringslounge.com/ , Dorie Iwata and her family.

Iwata says that stories about her celebrity home include Ivy hosting parties for Ike and Mamie Eisenhower and dignitaries of the time. “But her daughter, Pat was the interesting one to me. She was the leggy, blond, “normal” person in “The Munsters” and she dated Elvis, who allegedly hung out at the house and swam in our pool.” adds Iwata.
